How Empire Cafe rules Houston - My Favorite Spot in 713

I've been lucky enough to grow up in the great city of Houston, Texas. I am a proud Houstonian and some of the benefits of living in this great city are the endless amounts of restaurants. As I've grown into adulthood, I've had the opportunity to explore this city so much more. With this freedom I've taken it upon myself to find some of the best food around town. In this endeavor I've been lucky enough to find Empire Cafe.

A friend from college had heard that I was looking for new places to try and told me about this cute little cafe with food to die for. I took her at her word and was there the next day. Empire did not disappoint. From that first bite I was hooked, and it is now one of my favorite spots around town.

Established in March of 1994, Empire opened in hopes of providing a casual and comfortable environment for potential customers. I had the privilege to speak to one of the owners, Johnny Fooshee. In 2003, Fooshee purchased the establishment and since then has helped with the day-to-day management of the cafe.

Fooshee took the time to sit with me and talk about Empire Cafe and the business. He described the reason behind the cafe's success having to do with their menu's variety. Empire provides food for all three meals including dessert. Fooshee says the key to a quality dining experience is quality and consistency. He goes on to say that the best kinds of restaurants are the ones where your favorite meal tastes the same every time. I have now been eating at Empire for over a year, and I can say my favorite item on the menu, the pasta Fiorenza, is just as delicious as it was the first time. In addition to the consistency, the quality of the food is heavenly. One of the reasons Empire continues to stand out amongst other Houston restaurants and cafes is due to the love they pour into their food.

During my most recent visit, I tried the Empire Turkey Club sandwich. I was hoping for something light and delicate- this sandwich hit the mark.

And while the sandwich itself was quite yummy, it was their pickles and house made aioli sauce that brought the whole thing together. It made my meal memorable, and as a customer that's all one could ask for.

Another important feature of Empire Cafe is its ambiance. When speaking with Fooshee, he described the importance of creating a comfortable and welcoming atmosphere. With its warm lights and relaxing environment, the cafe is perfect for people of all ages. Whether a businessperson or college student, I can promise you that Empire has something for you.
